Lead Accounting Technician

As a Lead Accounting Technician in the Office of Financial Management (OFM), Finance Centers, you may perform the following duties:
Serve as a lead over several accounting technicians in support of professional accounting and finance work performed; Instruct accounting technicians on specific tasks and job techniques and making available written instructions, reference materials, and supplies; Examine accounting data for governmental and commercial transactions and correcting erroneous data; Audit, review, and manage documents and processes related to various governmental and commercial programs and services for accuracy, compliance with regulations, and proper approval prior to entering information into the financial system; and Perform certifying officer duties to ensure legal. proper, and accurate payments are made through the Department of Treasury. GS-08:
You qualify for the GS-08 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the federal service, performing duties such as:
Utilizing a complex automated accounting system to examine, analyze, and/or classify transactions; Ensuring transactions are accurate and appropriate and fall within specified guidelines and regulations; Examining, analyzing, interpreting and processing accounting data; and Employing multiple databases to ensure transmitted transactions and processes are completed according to policies and procedures. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
