With over 250 employees, OFM is the largest division within the OCFO, and is spread across three geographic locations- Headquarters in Washington, D.C. and two finance centers in Dallas, TX and Burlington, VT, respectively. OFM supports all financial management service needs for the agency such as accounting transactional activities, financial reporting, operation and maintenance of financial systems and multiple feeder systems, and travel and government charge card management. Furthermore, OFM is an accounting shared service provider for five Components within DHS. This position is located within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of Financial Management (OFM). As a Supervisory Financial Program Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Planning and ensuring performance of a large number of concurrent and complex financial systems. Managing the maintenance, auditing, and reconciliation of general and subsidiary ledger accounts through subordinate employees. Evaluating work associated with accounts payable, deposits, immigration bonds, or accounts receivable. Preparing financial reports and analyses designed to identify program vulnerabilities and formulate corrective actions. Assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, with selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level performing duties such as:
Examining and maintaining financial accounts and accounting data; Evaluating legislation, regulations, legal opinions and decision having contractual and debt management implications; Recommending policies or procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency of financial operations; and Directing a team/employees on both work and administrative matters. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
